Buddha and mind

Via Google images

“When mind and Buddha are both observed, that is seeing;
when mind and Buddha are both forgotten, that is stopping.
Once concentration and insight are balanced, what mind is
not Buddha, what Buddha not mind? Mind and Buddha
being thus, then myriad situations, myriad conditions, are
all meditation.”

On the Master...

“Regard him as one who points out treasure, the wise one
who seeing your faults rebukes you. Stay with this sort of
sage.  For the one who stays with a sage of this sort, things
get better, not worse.”

Dhammapada
(translated by Thanissaro Bhikkhu)

Paths

"So, the truth is, there's not one path. The truth is, there's not only one right path. The truth is, all paths can be made to be the right path. The truth is, that every individual has a different path. And that different path that every individual is launching incrementally—and amending constantly—that true path is known by Source and is guided by Source if you will pay attention to the way you feel".

I'll Hold You Close by Jayne Davies

Distant memories lost in time,
I close my eyes and think of you.
Memories of the way we were,
Glaze my eyes, like morning dew.

I hear your voice so clearly now,
A loving smile, lights up your face.
We walk together, hand in hand,
Then head for home, that special place.

I miss your love, I miss those times,
The love you shared, your love for me.
It broke my heart, you fell asleep,
No greater friend will ever be.

I'll hold your memory close to heart,
Your love will flow within my veins.
I'll hold you close, right to the end,
My dear Mum, we'll meet again.

On past and future lives...

Lord Buddha: “What you are is what you have
been, what you will be is what you do now.”

Guru Padmasambhava:: “If you want to
know your past life, look into your present
condition; if you want to know your future
life, look at your present actions.”

Upanishad wisdom...

The wise see the Lord of Love in the sun,
Rising in all its golden radiance
To give its warmth and light and life to all. ”

Interactions

Via Google Images

“Whenever you interact with people, don't be there
primarily as a function or a role, but as the field of conscious
Presence. You can only lose something that you have,
but you cannot lose something that you are.”

Eckhart Tolle

Light and Shadow...

Thou art the shadow of divine Light, we are thy shadow
in this world Who has seen a shadow separated
 from the Light?
Sometimes the shadow stays next to the Light
Sometimes it disappears into the Light. If its next to the Light
Light and shadow are equal to each other, when it disappears
it merges and unites with the Light.

Attraction...

"In this world everything attracts something.
Those of the Fire attract those of the Fire,
Those of the Light attract those of the Light."

Rumi

Past, present and future...

“If your mind carries a heavy burden of past, you will
experience more of the same. The past perpetuates
itself through lack of presence. The quality of your
consciousness at this moment is what shapes
the future.”

Eckhart Tolle

On true knowledge

“Those who know truly are free from pride and deceit.
They are gentle, forgiving, upright, and pure, devoted to
their spiritual teacher, filled with inner strength, and
self-controlled. Detached from sense objects and
self-will, they have learned the painful lesson of
separate birth and suffering, old age, disease,
and death.”

Bhagavad Gita

Awareness and awakening

“When you recognize that there is a voice in your
head that pretends to be you and never stops speaking,
you are awakening out of your unconscious
identification with the stream of thinking. When you
notice that voice, you realize that who you are is not the
voice — the thinker — but the one who is aware of it.”

Eckhart Tolle

Voice of Truth by Elaine Battersby

A voice of truth, of reason,
speaks out with splendid clarity,
dismissed by raised newspapers and turned heads.
Indifferent to his words his truth.
oh, for the openness of unfenced paddocks,
which tempt the flight of mind and spirit.
Freeing us to be, to feel.
To fulfil our deepest, wildest dreams and desires,
without remorse or fear.
Raising us up, for up, onto a higher plain
of limitless possibilities, beauty and creativity.
Grasping the meaning of life, of love.

More Tolle wisdom

“Spiritual seekers look for self-realization or enlightenment
in the future. To be a seeker implies that you need the future.
If this is what you believe, it becomes true for you: you will need time
until you realize that you don't need time to be who you are.”

Eckart Tolle

Upanishad reflection...

“When the mind is stilled in dreamless sleep,
It brings rest and repose to the body.
Just as birds fly to the tree for rest,
All things in life find their rest in the Self.”

Prashna Upanishad

On Metta...

“Unless we practice loving feelings toward everyone
we meet, day in, day out, we're missing out on the most joyous
part of life. If we can actually open our hearts, there's no difficulty
in  being happy.”

Sand castles...

The ego appropriates characteristics and habits that like a sand castle built by a child, it assembles grain by grain. Ever strengthening its bastions, this impermanent and tenuous structure grows larger and stronger, expanding and mutating  with each passing moment. And yet however imposing the end result may be, it is still just a sand castle. When the wind and tides of impermanence blow and wash away its grandiosity grain by grain it disappears into its original state...as if it never was.

Merit...

“Not allowing a day to pass without doing some good
is a boulder that will block your passage on the path
to rebirth. Only virtuous deeds abound in true joy.
All other deeds are empty and devoid of distinction.”

Tirukkural

Flexible Mind...

“The pain, the discomfort, the sickness are what they are.
We can always cope with the way life moves and changes.
The mind of an enlightened human being is flexible and adaptable.
The mind of the ignorant person is conditioned and fixed.”

Ajahn Sumedho, "Seeing the Way"

Becoming...

“Great occasions do not make heroes or cowards;
they simply unveil them to the eyes.
Silently and imperceptibly, as we wake or sleep,
we grow strong or we grow weak,
and at last some crisis shows us what
we have become.”

Bishop Westcott
