On Truth....

“If you really want to know your mind,
the body will always give
you a truthful reflection, so look
at the emotion, or rather feel it
in your body. If there is an apparent
conflict between them, the thought
will be the lie, the emotion will be the truth.”

Eckhart Tolle

Clinging...

“The bliss of a truth-seeking life is attainable for anyone who
follows the path of unselfishness. If you cling to your wealth,
it is better to throw it away than let it poison your heart.
But if you don't cling to it but use it wisely,
then you will be a blessing to people.
It's not wealth and power that enslave men
but the clinging to wealth and power.”

Majjhima Nikaya

Freedom...

“You have no caste. No duties bind you. Formless and free, beyond the reach of the senses, the witness of all things. So be happy! ”

OM

“I will give you the Word all the scriptures glorify, all spiritual disciplines express, to attain which aspirants lead a life of sense-restraint and self-naughting. It is OM. This symbol of the Godhead Is the highest. Realizing it one finds complete fulfillment of all one's longings. It is of the greatest support to all seekers. Those in whose hearts OM reverberates unceasingly are indeed blessed and deeply loved as one who is the Self.”

One act is enough...

Duality...

"What is meant by nonduality, Mahatmi? It means that light and shade, long and short, black and white, can only be experienced in relation to each other; light is not independent of shade, nor black of white. There are no opposites, only relationships. In the same way, nirvana and the ordinary world of suffering are not two things but related to each other. There is no nirvana except where the world of suffering is; there is no world of suffering apart from nirvana. For existence is not mutually exclusive.”

Lankavatara Sutra

A Dream Within A Dream

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

As a result of strong electrical storms resulting in prolonged black outs we have not been able to post any materials or use e mails here. The situation appears to have normalized and content posts and updates have been resumed. However further disruptions are possible given the local systems structure.

Infinite....

“To everyone of us there must come a time when the whole universe will be found to have been a dream, when we find the soul is infinitely better than the surroundings. It is only a question of time, and time is nothing in the infinite.”

Sai Baba

On perception of self...

“When you ride in a boat and watch the shore, you might assume that the shore is moving. But when you keep your eyes closely on the boat, you can see that the boat moves. Similarly, if you examine myriad things with a confused body and mind you might suppose that your mind and nature are permanent. When you practice intimately and return to where you are, it will be clear that nothing at all has unchanging self.”

Tolle wisdom...

"Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your
here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy,
you have three options:
remove yourself from the situation, change it,
or accept it totally."

The only place where you can find yourself is
in the Now.”

On proper motivation

“Without good motivation, science and technology, instead of helping, bring more fear and threaten global destruction. Compassionate thought is very important for humankind.”

Physical & mental attitude

“At a time when people are so conscious of maintaining their physical health by controlling their diets, exercising and so forth, it makes sense to try to cultivate the corresponding positive mental attitudes too.”

On relative reality...

“Indeed, I am neither bound nor free. An end to illusion!
It is all groundless. For the whole of creation,
Though it rests in me, Is without foundation.”

Sea Fever

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a gray mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way, where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

As my extended Italian tour comes to a close, I would like to thank all those compassionate friends and family that have so actively welcomed, encouraged me and supported the Sukhothai Volunteer project. I will bring your love and your gifts to the wonderfully talented students that really deserve them. Also I have had some of the most incredible lunches and dinners that in addition to being delicious, were spiced with love and care. Thank you so much! There are too many of you to mention but you all know who you are. Your warmth and friendship have meant a lot to me! I wish you all the success possible and may your kindness be returned to you a million fold.

On outer and inner purpose

“Whenever you become anxious or stressed, outer purpose
has taken over, and you lost sight of your inner purpose.
You have forgotten that your state of consciousness is primary,
all else secondary.”

A Noble Character by Julian Colgan

Faced with the terrors of universal suffering in all directions,
what can the community of practitioners do
to restate the noble truths of noble human strivings
so that others may awaken to the emptiness of their minds?

Never complete until everyone is complete,
the truth of impermanence makes every human teaching
into mere deception by eroding everything that is
a part of the phenomena which is studied in depth and from afar.

Finding a stability in that thought which transcends thought,
grasping and taking all of the eternity of change in one's mind is
a surefire way to release all that which needs to be released
for the free flowing nature of space and mind
to run into each other so as to dissolve every perceivable object.

Finding no right in being right but in doing what is
of a noble character, emptiness is the great equalizer
in which what is far is near and what is near is far.
Far is the path of accomplishment and near is the desire to succeed
in stocking the fire of discipline and the zeal for removing all suffering.

Someone who is of a noble character sees the truth in all beings
and honors what each living mind can do potentially and actually.
Going farther than the farthest distance by becoming nearer to the nearest
compassionate thought, what awaits the enlightened is the destiny of all.
