Seeds...

"If we plant poisonous seeds in the ground,
all the trees and fruit become poisonous
plants. So, the delusions are like poisonous seeds."

LONELINESS

"Why are we bored, lonely and lazy? Because we don't have the will to totally open our hearts to others. If you have the strength of will to totally open your heart to others, you will eliminate laziness, selfishness and loneliness. Actually, the reason you get lonely is that you are not doing anything. If you were busy, you wouldn't have time to get lonely. Loneliness can only enter an inactive mind. If your mind is dull and your body inactive, then you get lonely. Basically, this comes from a selfish attitude, concern for yourself alone. That is the cause of loneliness, laziness and a closed heart."

PATRUL RINPOCHE

All the various thoughts are laid out like the features of a game,
For the child-like power of awareness to play with non-attachment,
The old mothers of the six realms take their seats as compassion's focus,
And the offerings, sources of merit, are shared by dedication’s skilful hands.

All this talk of realising and seeing, it’s all so hollow!
Forget bliss and clarity, they’re just temporary highs!
Cultivate emptiness of which compassion is the essence,
And your own and others’ welfare is assured, it’s said.

Even a hundred years of exertion born of expectation for reward,
Will only postpone the supreme accomplishment, we're told.
But on the path of the six pāramitās free from the seven attachments,
Even without enlightenment in this lifetime, there'll be no regret!

Homeless !

Image result for old shack in woods

I know not what went wrong
and yearn to hear morning's song
my own place wherein to sleep,
be it a shack, hut or small keep
I watch as people bustle by
Fretting, frowning: don't know why
The wheel of fortune has been spun
A spoke had halted on "not fun"
Then in stillness do I descend
to my heart, my only friend
With all outward things withdrawn
T'is there I find a fresh new dawn

My home

“You ask why I make my home
in the mountain forest,
and I smile, and am silent,
and even my soul remains quiet:
it lives in the other world
which no one owns.
The peach trees blossom,
The water flows.”

Li Bai

Soaring...

As an aloof eagle flying high,
I watch below me life pass by
Its many sudden twists 'n turns
reaching out to caress and burn
those caught in its timeless snare

Arrogance, greed, pride they wear
As an unyielding universe looks on
many eons upon which suns shone
In height, in joy there is no defeat
as unaware victims lie at my feet

In uplifting winds I find my peace
for way below I indulge and feast
my feathers fine, my talons sharp
I fear neither daylight nor the dark
And when I come to be reborn,

I'd never want to be man: a shark!
