In memory of Paolo Borsellino

Paolo Borsellino January 19, 1940 – July 19, 1992 was an Italian prosecuting judge who, working with Giovanni Falcone, spent most of his professional life trying to overthrow the power of the Sicilian Mafia that had become a state unto itself. He too was killed by the mafia in what had been a series of well orchestrated and sophisticated military styled bombings in Sicily in 1992. Many sustain that there was the implicit contribution and certain betrayal by members of the Italian political/state apparatus (or fraternity) who have never been held accountable. And who, aware of the risks did nothing to protect him.

Countless other good policemen and policewomen, bodyguards, judges, journalists, honest people paid this huge price. They died heroes as a result of the cowardice of small minded, psychopathic shallow men who were/are already dead in fact and/or in spirit. Many of these warriors were surgically and systematically removed when they became too close to the political and financial power structure.

Italy (like Colombia, Mexico, South America etc). has seen many martyrs in the course of attempting to administer justice that have included incorruptible honorable men and women from all professions that were abandoned by a weak invisible cowardly, corrupt and complicit political structure. Their only fault: a scrupulous integrity and commitment to the rule of law and the oaths they took. All wiped out systematically by truly dark interconnected forces. To date every government has been either unable or unwilling to extinguish these cancers despite enormous funds and military/technological hardware.

True hearts never die.
One day we might become civilized!
