"Milarepa said, “I do not study what is written with black ink.”
Rather, Milarepa studied everything as it actually is. We can
also just look around and see how things are. All living beings
are born, grow up, age, become sick, and pass away. We can
observe the consequences of actions and what is painful in all
different ways. All this is observable if we pay attention. We
can also see what is truly valuable; a precious human body
which can lead us to embrace a spiritual path by understanding
what it means to cultivate spiritual qualities and to practice
with a lot of energy, enthusiasm and perseverance. That is a
special way of studying the Dharma through developing an
understanding how things truly are."
